On Sunday, February 20th we met to expand our project summary and further talk about the actual activities in the game. We brainstormed and drew pictures and ideas on the whiteboard.

Our second meeting happened on Sunday, February 6th. At this meeting, we further fleshed out our ideas in order to come up with a page long summary of our ideas.
Our first meeting happened on Sunday, January 30th. We discussed how we would create a piece of software that would teach people to read. We quickly came to the idea of a game to accomplish this. We were partly inspired by great games and software like Zoombinis, Labrynth, and Thinking Reader. We were also inspired by the games we found on the internet that frankly, were not good.
We had only a very basic start at the end of the meeting. The game will be centered around a Superhero that has to help out the city. The main idea of the game is that we want the activities to make sense and not just be random games that supposedly help students learn. We also want to base the games around the activities students do in school. We also decided that we wanted to design for a touchscreen. Doing that, we’ll be able to utilize the advantages a tablet provides, like allowing learners to easily write words and letters.
Welcome to this blog. Here, we will be detailing the process of designing educational software. Our goal is to create an engaging video game for a touch screen platform. Children will improve their reading skills through playing games and reflecting on what they’ve learned. Follow along as we go through project summary definitions, design exercises such as interviews, storyboarding, and more.
